The health insurance industry is growing in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare, and they’re hiring more people

Progressive insurance company Aarp Health is hiring more than 10,000 people in the coming year, with the company hoping to fill a growing need for coverage as the nation struggles to recover from the health care crisis.

In the months leading up to President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Aarp and other health insurers were struggling to find ways to fill gaps left by the Affordable Care Act, which left tens of millions of Americans uninsured.

But after the court struck down parts of the law, AARP and other insurers were able to find a way to sell insurance plans that provide coverage for more of their customers, but with a steep deductible.

Those plans, which were previously considered off-limits under the ACA, were allowed to be sold in 2018 and 2019, and now have been approved for a new phase of enrollment.

AARP CEO Kevin O’Connor said in a statement Monday that Aarp was excited to be joining a growing pool of insurers offering comprehensive plans for consumers in 2018.

“As we prepare for the new year, we are encouraged to see that our plans are on track to offer more affordable coverage options for millions of consumers in 2017,” O’Connors said.

“We are also pleased to see the rapid growth of AARP’s health insurance marketplace, and we look forward to working with our partners to deliver even better coverage options in 2018.”

The insurer also announced it was hiring 15 new employees in the first half of 2018.

The company has hired over 2,300 people so far this year, according to the company.

More from The Washington Times:AARP plans to open up its marketplace to more insurers on Jan. 1, 2019, allowing them to offer policies that include coverage for maternity care, prescription drugs and other essential health care services.

In 2019, AARPs plan will be for individual and small group plans, but the company plans to expand its marketplace in the future, including to other insurers. 

AARP said it is also working with other insurers to offer plans for those with pre-existing conditions, such as people with cancer and high blood pressure.

The insurers also plan to expand access to coverage for those who have pre-condition conditions such as diabetes or asthma, as well as people who have cancer. 

“We are encouraged that AARP has been so successful in getting its policies approved for the first time in a few years, but we remain concerned about the future of pre-ACA coverage,” said Michael Pinto, president of the Alliance for Affordable Health, a consumer advocacy group.

“The Affordable Care (ACA) is a landmark piece of legislation that made life easier for millions, but AARP is not the only company struggling to attract consumers to its policies.

Many insurers are struggling to meet the rising demand for coverage, and AARP must work harder to attract healthy, healthy consumers to their plans.”
